Tournaments – not able to discuss at this meeting. Will try to have Jeff Robar and Lewis Bassford at next meeting to give update.
Free time games/video tournament/movies. We discussed the free time activities. We decided that during free time, we may have a couple of board games set out at various spots through out the camp, registration office, lobby of gym so that the students can play, nothing organized. The video tournament will not be offered this year, but will be available for free time use. We will have the movies again and will check with Skycroft as to which license they have from production companies so we can decide on the movies to show. We also decided that we would give the moves to someone to have so that Phil is not responsible for everything, so we need a leader for this.
Tract times – we had a wonderful discussion on this. We started the list of topics with 23 and have sent out the list to everyone so that we can get input from everyone before we start whittling it down. Also discussion was held on some of the tract times being limited to just the leader teaching and one other adult to ensure that the students are able to have open discussion. The tract times even though they can be beneficial to the adult leaders are for the students and as leaders we need to be sensitive to this fact. It was reported that inappropriate comments were made by adults on the Homosexuality tract time to students which may have kept them from getting some important information that may have been needed. So we will be decided which will be limited in the meetings to come.
Schedule – we also have adjusted the schedule and will be presenting it for final approval at the next meeting. Will present to Skycroft to make sure there are no problems with the changes on their end. (Just received approval from Grace at Skycroft on the schedule changes.) The schedule was adjust to only have 3 tract times (not 4) which will allow some time freedom. A copy of the proposed schedule is attached.
Security Team – Jim Sellevaag has volunteered to head up our Security Team. He will get a group of leaders to work with him to handle the following:
· Make sure that all students are where they are supposed to be. Not in the lodges and hotel rooms during Tract Times, and General Sessions.
· Will make sure the game room is empty and stays empty during all the General Sessions.
· Will keep any and all confiscated electronic equipment until Sunday when we leave.
· Help to enforce the rules for the weekend.
Rules for the retreat – we discussed that as a group we need to define what the consequences should be for any of the rules being broken for the weekend. We have had a problem with the electronic equipment being brought and being used. The consequences would then be published in the booklet so EVERYONE would know what the consequence will be if they break the rule. This will be discussed at the next meeting as well.
Kelly Sellevaag will be going to the Montgomery Baptist Coordinating Council Meeting May 27 to meeting and answer any questions the council may have about the retreat. Thanks Kelly for being our representative for this.
